You are late, Tigers PCB

Bangladesh have reacted too late in trying to have the result of the Asia Cup final overturned, the Pakistan Cricket Boards chief operating officer said on Sunday.A senior official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Saturday that it will ask the Asian Cricket Council to review an incident in the last over of Thursdays final against Pakistan which they believe cost them the game.Pakistan won the final by two runs but Bangladesh say Pakistani bowler Aizaz Cheema, who bowled the final over, deliberately tried to block batsman Mahmudullah and therefore, five penalty runs should be incurred.
We are a bit surprised by this late reaction from the Bangladesh board because we believe if something was wrong the match officials would have taken action on the spot, the PCBs Subhan Ahmed told Reuters. What we fail to understand is why there is this late reaction from the Bangladesh board. But even if they appeal I dont think it will affect relations between the two boards. In the final match, Pakistan had batted first and scored 236 losing 9 wickets while chasing 237 to win, Bangladesh scored 234 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.Pakistan, who have not hosted international matches since a gun attack on the Sri Lanka team in 2009, have invited Bangladesh to play a three-match one-day series next month. The PCB is still waiting for a response from the Bangladesh board, which says it will follow any decision made by its government.

Chittagong Kings to move court

Just two hours to the first semi-final on Tuesday, Chittagong Kings said they will move the court against the BPL's decision to allow Barisal Burnerst to play Duronto Rajshahi in the second semi-final.

"We're taking legal steps. Our representative has already been sent to the court," Samir Quader Chowdhury, CEO of SQ Sports, which owns the Kings, told a media conference at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel around 11:30am.

"We've been dropped in defiance of the bylaws. The rule was fixed by mixing the sub-clauses 1 and 2 of clause 21 (8). But a rule can't be made by taking some parts of different sub-clauses," he added.

Coach Khaled Mahmud and manager Nasir Ahmed were present there.

Shafiqul Haque Heera and Faruque Ahmed, the managers of semi-finalists Dhaka Gladiators and Duronto Rajshahi, respectively, and Khulna Royal Bengals media manager Jahid Razzaq Masum were also present in the conference.

Dhaka's Heera said his team will support the Kings if they were thrown out illegally.

Faruque of Rajshahi said they will also back the Kings if they were dropped unlawfully. He, however, added they are not abandoning the first semi-final against the Burners at 2pm.

PCB wants to host Bangladesh Test series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has informed the ICC that it intends to host Bangladesh for a Test series in April in a bid to revive international cricket at home.

A PCB official said that the board was confident of the Bangladesh tour going ahead since the government had also given its assurance of top level security arrangements for the touring side.

"The reason we have kept the ICC in the loop is that even their security experts are aware of the arrangements being made for the Bangladesh team. But primarily this is a bilateral series that has to be finalized between two boards," a PCB official said on Sunday, reports NDTV sports.

"Our main aim is to break the ice of Test teams not coming to Pakistan. If Bangladesh come we will have better chances of convincing other Boards that they also now need to support us," he said.

The PCB sent its chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad recently to Dhaka to personally offer condolences on the sad demise of the chief executive of the Bangladesh Cricket Board Manzur Ahmed.

The official said Subhan had not officially discussed the invitation to Bangladesh Board to send its team to Pakistan but the BCB officials had indicated that they were in the process of getting clearance from their government to send a high level delegation to Pakistan to inspect the security arrangements for their team.

The official, who declined to be named, admitted that the chances of Bangladesh touring Pakistan would depend entirely on the briefing given to their security delegation.

"If their security delegation is satisfied than the tour is on and it will be a big breakthrough for Pakistan cricket," the official said.

No foreign Test team has toured Pakistan since the March 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore.

The official also said that the PCB was not concerned with reports emanating from Bangladesh that some of their players and team officials were not keen on playing in Pakistan because of security concerns.

"That is an internal matter between the Bangladesh board and their team. Our primary concern is that the BCB first clears the tour," he added.

He said that the PCB was also ready to welcome visits by any security experts of the ICC or the Maryleborne Cricket Club (MCC) cricket committee.

"We would welcome such visits because the ICC special task force team on Pakistan did not send a team to Pakistan but if the ICC and MCC decide to send their security delegations even before the Bangladesh tour we would be very happy," he said.

Bangladesh board to evaluate loss in Zimbabwe

Manzur Ahmed, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive, has said the board will evaluate the team's poor performance in Zimbabwe, where they lost a one-off Test and the ODI series 3-2.
"I would like to see it in management terms and in this case it will be called an evaluation," Manzur told the Daily Star. "We'll look into the reports from the various individuals and then do a complete evaluation of the team, both on and off the field."
Bangladesh had not played a Test in over a year before the tour and they suffered a 130-run defeat against Zimbabwe, who were returning to Test cricket after an absence of six years.
They also conceded a 0-3 lead in the ODIs before winning the last two dead-rubbers. The series was Stuart Law's first assignment as national coach after succeeding Jamie Siddons.
Manzur said the BCB was receiving reports from various individuals in the touring party. "We are holding discussions and we will receive reports. We know there's merit to an inquiry committee but it is not decided yet," Manzur said. "It will definitely be an honest appraisal and we'll look at all areas within the national team as well.
"Actually, we are looking at three areas to better our cricket. First it is the wickets, then the High Performance unit, and lastly the first-class cricket structure. These are all in place but there is always room for improvement."
